Armed miscreants rob hospital owner of Rs 5 lakh on Sitapur Highway

Lucknow: In a shocking incident, a private hospital owner and his associates were allegedly robbed of around Rs 5 lakh by armed miscreants after their vehicle was intercepted on the Sitapur highway in the Bakshi Ka Talab (BKT) area on Thursday.
According to police officials, the hospital owner was travelling from Daliganj towards BKT along with his associates when three unidentified men overtook and blocked their vehicle near a temple. The assailants allegedly opened fire and punctured one of the vehicle's tyres, forcing it to come to a halt.

The accused then allegedly snatched a bag containing cash from a woman travelling in the vehicle before fleeing the scene. The bag is said to have contained around Rs 5 lakh.
Speaking to TOI, police said there was a possibility of insider involvement, pointing to the apparent prior knowledge of the victims’ movement and the cash being carried. Police suspect that the assailants may have received a tip-off regarding the transaction.
Police are reviewing CCTV footage from nearby locations to identify the suspects and trace their escape route. Further investigation is underway.
DCP North Gopal Chaudhary said, “A robbery has been reported in the BKT police station area. A complaint will be filed based on the plaintiff's complaint. Important clues have been found. The case will be solved soon,” reports Dainik Bhaskar.
Medical Dialogues had previously reported that while attending a family function, a 52-year-old US-based doctor alleged that 725 grams of gold ornaments worth around Rs 1 crore were stolen from a wedding hall under the Avalahalli police station limits. The incident took place on Wednesday when she went to the SDP Palace on Old Madras Road in Bidarahalli, where the wedding ceremony was being held. In the evening, around 6.30 pm, her brother handed over a box containing the gold ornaments at the venue.
