Aurangabad to get multi-speciality hospital under Smart Health Project
Aurangabad: With an aim to provide affordable multi-speciality healthcare to patients in the city, the construction of a new modern multi-speciality hospital has already begun at a cost of Rs 33.5 crores.
The project is being handled by the Aurangabad Smart City Development Corporation Ltd (ASCDCL). The new hospital will be built in the Hudco N-11 area of the city.
The Aurangabad Smart City project aims at incorporating best practices in technology, city planning and infrastructural development to improve the standard of living in the city of Aurangabad. Selected as one of the smart cities by the Government of India, Aurangabad is poised to provide world-class services through well-designed and citizen-centric programs.

Under Smart Health Project, the project will benefit the citizens of the city with proper and advanced healthcare facilities. After the completion of the hospital, it will reduce the huge footfall on Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).
CEO of Aurangabad Smart City, Astik Kumar Pandey told TOI, "As per plans, we will build four multi-speciality hospitals as a part of this project and hand them over to the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) for operations. The project, suggested by state industry minister and district guardian minister Subhash Desai, was approved by the ASCDCL board in March. Subsequently, the smart corporation carried out the tendering process and issued the work order. The Smart Health Project will be implemented at a cost of Rs 33.5 cr."

Aurangabad Smart City Development Corporation Limited (ASCDCL) is a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) registered under Section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013. ASCDCL was incorporated in September 2016, following the selection of Aurangabad in Round 2 of Smart City Mission Challenge, for the implementation of the Smart City project. ASCDCL is jointly owned by Government of Maharashtra and Aurangabad Municipal Corporation.
