Chandigarh to fast-track AYUSH Hospital in Sector 34

AYUSH Hospital
Chandigarh: The Chandigarh administration has decided to expedite the launch of an AYUSH hospital in Sector 34 while reviewing key development projects, staffing, and financial management during a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Mr. Rajesh Prasad.
The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Home Secretary Mr. Mandip Singh Brar, Deputy Commissioner Mr. Nishant Yadav, Finance Secretary Mr. Diprava Lakra, Engineering Secretary Ms Prerna Puri, and Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) CEO Mr. D. Karthikeyan, primarily focused on improving overall administrative efficiency and ensuring the timely execution of ongoing and upcoming government projects across various departments, reports Dainik Bhaskar.
A key decision taken during the meeting was to operationalize the AYUSH hospital in Sector 34 at the earliest possible time to enhance healthcare access for residents. The administration also emphasized the urgent need to accelerate recruitment processes and fill vacant posts through departmental promotion committees (DPCs) as well as through direct hiring mechanisms.

To prevent lapses in allocated funds, engineering departments have been directed to complete tendering processes strictly within stipulated timelines and ensure proper, transparent utilization of budgets during the financial year. Officials stressed that delays in expenditure should be avoided to maintain fiscal discipline and improve financial management practices.
The meeting also highlighted the issue of a large number of vacant government houses across the city. The engineering department has been instructed to prepare a comprehensive list of such properties and develop detailed plans for their timely renovation, maintenance, and effective utilisation.
In addition, it was decided that regular monitoring of accounts of boards, corporations, and societies functioning under the administration will be carried out more strictly. Authorities have also been directed to conduct board meetings as per established norms and submit annual reports within the prescribed timelines.
