Coimbatore: Kangeyam Government Hospital to get makeover at cost of Rs 26 crore
A proposal has been sent to the centre to establish 708 Urban Wellness Centres in 21 Corporations and 63 Municipalities in the state. He said that construction work on more than 500 centres had begun, and 36 centres are under construction in the Tiruppur district.
Coimbatore: To provide patients with advanced healthcare treatments and boost the medical infrastructure in the Tirupur district, health minister Ma Subramanian unveiled a plan for Kangeyam Government Hospital to get a makeover at a cost of Rs 26 crore, and the construction for the project will begin soon.
Several other announcements were also made at the inauguration ceremony. After inaugurating 12 hospitals and medical buildings in the Tirupur district built at a cost of Rs 3 crores, he said that Tirupur would get integrated essential laboratory services at a cost of Rs 10.24 crore.

According to the Minister, the people in the Tirupur district would get a new RT-PCR testing centre at Udumalpet Government Hospital. A cost of Rs 1.20 crore has been sanctioned for the project. The hospital would also get a facility to conduct hearing tests for children and a treatment facility at a total cost of Rs 20 lakh.
A separate block for newborns and mothers will be built at Avinashi Government Hospital at a cost of Rs 6 crore. The government will provide a medical laboratory at Urban Primary Health Centre in Tirupur at Rs 49.70 lakh and advanced medical equipment at Velampalayam Government Hospital at Rs 1.47 crore.
Since the patient loads are increasing at the urban primary health centre in Velampalayam, a separate building will be established at a cost of Rs 1.20 crore.
Blood purification equipment and advanced equipment for kidney treatment would be procured for Tirupur Medical College Hospital at a cost of Rs 13 lakh, he said.
"14 health sub centres will be constructed in the district at a cost of 4.6 crores. Also, new primary health centres will come up at Kudimangalam and Kaniyur at the cost of 1.7 crores. The urban primary health centre at Palladam will get a new building at a cost of 1.20 crore," the minister told TOI.
The Minister said the PRM Home and Susaipuram urban primary health centres will get ultrasound scanning equipment to treat pregnant women. "The urban primary health centres such as PRM Home and Veerapandi will get additional buildings at Rs 1.20 crore," he added.
The health minister also unveiled the plans to convert 83 rural health sub-centres in the district into health centres at a cost of 1.16 crore. An additional Rs 20 lakh would be spent on nurse accommodations at the Semmipalayam Primary Health Centre, he said.
