Construction work of AIIMS Bilaspur to be completed by 2022: Union Health Minister
The project is being developed in 3 phases. Presently development is taking place in phase I wherein, AIIMS Bilaspur is proposed to be a 750 bedded hospital with 15 to 20 super specialty departments equipped with all modern facilities.
Hamirpur: Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has directed AIIMS authorities that the construction work of AIIMS Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh, should be completed within 2022.
While reviewing the progress during a meeting in New Delhi last night in which Union Information-cum-Broadcasting Minister, Anurag Thakur and All India BJP chief and MP, JP Nadda were also present.

With the start of AIIMS Bilaspur, the people of Himachal Pradesh will benefit a lot. Those who used to come to Delhi and get their treatment done with good health facilities will now get the benefit of having better technology and specialist departments of many diseases in their home state itself.
The meeting discussed the construction work of AIIMS Bilaspur and thanked JP Nadda for giving this gift to the people of Himachal Pradesh.
With the creation of Bilaspur AIIMS, the health world of Himachal will get huge power. Not only Himachal, but people of entire North India will get state-of-the-art health facilities. Along with health, new employment opportunities will be available in the state.
It was told in the meeting that in 2022, this institute, equipped with state-of-the-art health facilities, will be given to the whole of North India as a gift of the Prime Minister.
It is the resolve of the Prime Minister that every countryman should get the best health facilities at their doorsteps.
Jagat Prakash Nadda thanked Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya for continuous monitoring and appreciated Anurag Thakur and thanked Chief Minister, Jairam Thakur for providing basic facilities by the state government to the under-construction institution.
Notably, Himachal Pradesh is a state with difficult terrain. Getting access to health facilities there is also a difficult task. In such a situation, having AIIMS Bilaspur will be a revolutionary step, it will also provide employment to the people there and medical students will also get more convenient and better research facilities.
It's worth mentioning here that the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi had laid the foundation stone of AIIMS, Bilaspur on October 03, 2017.
Subsequently on January 21, 2019, the then Union Health Minister,J P Nadda, and Hon'ble Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Jai Ram Thakur performed the Bhoomi Pujan.

To further enhance healthcare delivery, AIIMS Bilaspur is likely to widen the spectrum of services through the expansion of various super-specialty departments in subsequent phases to provide affordable and reliable tertiary level healthcare in the Himachal Pradesh, and adjoining states of Punjab and Haryana.
AIIMS Bilaspur started its first academic session on January 12, 2021, with a batch of 50 MBBS students.
