Death of pregnant woman at Thiruthuraipoondi Hospital triggers protest

Trichy: The death of a 27-year-old pregnant woman at Thiruthuraipoondi Government Hospital has sparked protests by her family, with allegations that her death resulted from the absence of doctors at the time of admission.
The deceased, a 27-year-old woman who was two months pregnant and married to a construction worker, reportedly complained of severe pain on Wednesday evening, prompting her husband and family members to rush her to Thiruthuraipoondi Government Hospital.

Shocked by her sudden death, her family staged a sit-in protest inside the hospital premises. Police intervened, assuring them that action would be taken, and the woman’s body was sent to Tiruvarur Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination.
On Thursday, her relatives protested again in front of the Tiruvarur district collectorate and demanded suitable compensation for the family and a government job. They submitted a petition at the collectorate in this regard, reports TOI.
Meanwhile, the incident has sparked concern over the availability of medical staff in government hospitals during emergencies.
