Delhi: Hospitals, Nursing homes license to be auto renewed till March
New Delhi: In a major relief to nursing home owners, the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday directed the health department to pass orders for automatic renewal of licenses of nursing homes in the city up to March 31, 2021.
The nursing home owners along with senior members of Delhi Medical Council (DMC) and Delhi Medical Association (DMA) met the Chief Minister and raised the issue of renewal of licences.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that taking strict cognizance of nursing homes (including those treating COVID patients) functioning with an expired license, the Delhi Medical Association (DMA) had sought the state government's intervention in taking necessary steps to resolve the concern.
Drawing attention towards the concern, DMA officials had alleged that despite the order given by the State Health Minister, Satyendra Jain to the authorities concerned to renew the registration of private hospitals and nursing homes till December 31st, 2020 no initiative was taken to execute the same.

As per a recent PTI report, the nursing home owners said in a statement that the licenses are to be renewed every year but this year, due to the COVID pandemic, some nursing homes could not do so after March.
President of Delhi Medical Council Dr Arun Gupta thanked the chief minister for considering the problems of the nursing homes and issuing the necessary direction to the health department, the statement said.
"This will provide immediate relief to the nursing home owners," Gupta said.
Dr RK Gupta, the ex-president of DMA, said, "The Delhi government has taken commendable measures during the time of Corona, and have honoured the private and government hospital and health care workers." Health minister Satyendar Jain was present in the meeting.
