Delhi Hospitals uphold Emergency Preparedness Despite India-Pakistan Ceasefire

Delhi Hospitals
New Delhi: Even though India and Pakistan have reached a ceasefire agreement following days of military tensions along the border, the Delhi administration is showing no signs of easing security measures or administrative preparedness in the capital.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that in response to the ongoing military tensions between India and Pakistan, the Delhi government has directed all hospitals in the capital to conduct mock drills and gear up for potential large-scale medical emergencies that may arise from cross-border conflict. Following the government's order, several government and private hospitals are ramping up their preparedness to handle any potential emergency. Many recently carried out large-scale mock drills within their premises to test their response capabilities. These drills focused on providing immediate treatment to patients with critical injuries such as burns, fractures, and other trauma, while also training doctors and medical staff to operate efficiently under high-pressure emergency scenarios.

Officials from the Delhi administration confirmed that despite the ceasefire, which has brought a temporary reprieve to military activity, there is no immediate relaxation in security or government operations. As part of these precautionary measures, the leaves of all government officers have been cancelled, and several mock drills are being carried out across different districts in the capital.
As per the news reports, a district magistrate emphasized that clear instructions had been issued to ensure that all government agencies and law enforcement bodies maintain full preparedness until further notice.

According to TNIE, officials suggested that since Monday was observed as a public holiday, the situation would be reviewed by Tuesday to assess the possibility of easing the restrictions. “There is no formal order yet regarding the resumption of leaves,” said Dr Indra Shekhar, AIIMS Resident Doctors’ Association (RDA). The administration has chosen to proceed with caution.
