Doctor, staff booked 9 years after woman's death at Thane Hospital

FIR Against the Doctor and Hospital Staff
Thane: Following an inquiry into a 2017 alleged medical negligence case, the Naupada police have registered an FIR against a doctor and staff of a private hospital in Thane in connection with the death of a 51-year-old woman.
The woman was admitted to a hospital near Teen Hath Naka on April 16, 2017, after experiencing chest pain, dizziness, and profuse sweating. According to the FIR, the attending doctor was reportedly absent from the hospital, and no immediate medical examination was conducted.

Later in the evening, her condition deteriorated following the administration of an injection. She collapsed and was declared dead shortly thereafter. The case saw little progress until the complainant approached the State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission in 2019.
As per the news reports, in September 2025, the commission ruled in favor of the complainant. A subsequent inquiry by the district civil surgeon confirmed that the patient had not received appropriate treatment, paving the way for criminal action.
Acting on these findings, the Naupada police registered the FIR on March 14, 2026, and the investigation into the alleged negligence is now underway.
