Evening OPD services to be started at Safdurjung Hospital from October 1
New Delhi: Bringing major relief to the patients in the capital, the largest central government-run Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi has decided to extend its Outpatient (OPD) service in the evening from October 1.
It has been planned that the hospital administration will begin screening patients in the evening OPD from three medical departments, including the department of medicine, surgery, and paediatrics.
The initiative has been taken in view of the increasing number of patients in emergency and regular OPD at the hospital. Therefore, to manage the patient load with proper parameters, the hospital has decided to extend its OPD services in the evening.

It has emerged that the screening OPD will be inaugurated on September 25 and the patients will be able to consult doctors in OPD from October 1. The evening services will be provided at the new OPD block in the makeshift hospital that was set up for dealing with emergency patients during the COVID-19 outbreak located on the campus.
Now patients will be able to register at these three departments from 11:30 am to 5:30 pm. During the evening shift, doctors will see patients from 12 noon to 6 pm.
While speaking to the media Dr Vandana Talwar, Superintendent, Safdarjung Hospital informed TH “Currently, about 10,000 people come to our OPD every day and people who are not able to register at the main OPD can register for the ‘evening OPD."
"The aim is to reduce congestion in both the green zone in the emergency block, where lesser complex cases such as cuts, sprains, or minor head injuries are treated," Dr Talwar added.
