Stillbirth Triggers Sit-in Protest at Private Hospital in Mancherial

Mancherial: Following the death of a foetus in the womb, the family of a pregnant woman staged a sit-in protest outside a private hospital in Mancherial late Monday night, alleging negligence on the part of doctors.

According to the news reports, the woman was admitted to the hospital around 2.30 pm after she experienced labour pains. Later, she delivered a stillborn baby weighing approximately 3 kilograms.

The woman’s family accused the attending doctors, particularly the gynaecologist, of negligence in handling the delivery. They alleged that despite the foetus being healthy, proper medical care was not provided during the labour and noted that the woman had conceived the baby after 16 years of marriage. Demanding strict action against those responsible, the family continued their protest outside the hospital.

The doctors, however, attributed the death of the foetus in the womb to cardiology-related complications. They maintained that the delivery was handled carefully and in a professional manner, reports Telangana Today.

The incident has once again drawn attention to concerns over accountability and transparency in private healthcare facilities, especially in cases involving maternal and foetal health.

Medical Dialogues had previously reported that the death of a seven-month pregnant woman and her newborn daughter at a private hospital in Banjara Hills had triggered allegations of medical negligence, prompting a criminal case against the attending gynaecologist and hospital staff. According to the news reports, the 33-year-old deceased was working as a constable at the Khulsumpura police station, was seven months pregnant with twins, and was admitted for emergency treatment due to severe abdominal pain and heavy bleeding. Her husband, a 34-year-old software engineer, rushed her to the hospital in the early hours of June 10.
