Family seeks inquiry into surgery delay at Banda Medical College

Banda: Rani Durgavati Medical College in Banda, Uttar Pradesh, has come under scrutiny following an alleged delay in the surgery of a road accident victim whose operation was scheduled for Wednesday but has yet to be performed. The delay has raised concerns over the circumstances surrounding the postponement and the treatment being provided to the patient.
According to the patient’s family, two men injured in a road accident were admitted to the medical college for treatment. Surgeries for both patients were reportedly scheduled for Wednesday. However, while one of the injured men has undergone surgery, the other patient continues to wait for the surgery.
The family has raised questions about the circumstances surrounding the postponement of the procedure and the handling of the injured patient’s treatment.
A demand has been raised for an inquiry into the matter, to be conducted by the District Magistrate of Banda and senior officials from the Department of Medical Education, according to Bhaskar English.
The inquiry is expected to examine why the scheduled surgery did not take place and whether there were any lapses in the hospital's handling of the patient's case.
The reason for the delay and the hospital administration's response remain awaited.
Medical Dialogues had previously reported that a 40-year-old man died after allegedly facing delays and lapses in treatment at Nashik Civil Hospital on Saturday, prompting District Collector Ayush Prasad to order an audit into the case on Tuesday. The audit was ordered following allegations of medical negligence raised by social activist Deepak Doke, who questioned the circumstances surrounding the patient's death and the decision to refer him to a private diagnostic centre for a sonography examination.
