Fire at Rainbow Children's Hospital, patients safe

Short Circuit Triggers Fire At Vijayawada Children's Hospital
Vijayawada: A fire broke out in the emergency ward at Rainbow Children’s Hospital in Currency Nagar on Wednesday morning, reportedly due to a short circuit.. No casualties were reported as hospital staff swiftly moved children and patients to another ward.
According to hospital sources, staff members noticed smoke and flames emerging from an air-conditioner vent in the emergency ward and immediately initiated evacuation measures. Their prompt response helped prevent injuries and ensured that patients were shifted to safety before the fire could spread further, reports Deccan Chronicle.
The fire department was alerted promptly, and two fire tenders were rushed to the spot. Fire personnel brought the blaze under control and took measures to prevent it from spreading to other parts of the hospital. The hospital is located in a busy residential area of Currency Nagar, raising concerns over the possibility of wider damage had the fire not been contained quickly.

Hospital sources said the fire detection auto-sensor system was functional at the time of the incident and issued a timely warning. The alert enabled hospital staff to respond without delay and helped avert a major tragedy.
While no loss of life or injuries were reported, the emergency ward sustained significant damage. Medical equipment and other materials kept in the ward were destroyed, and the ward was reportedly completely gutted in the blaze.
The Patamata police have registered a case and launched an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the fire. Preliminary reports indicate that a short circuit may have triggered the incident, but officials are expected to confirm the cause after a detailed assessment.
Authorities are also assessing the full extent of damage caused to the hospital infrastructure and equipment during the incident.
