Fire breaks out at PHC in Nalgonda
Nalgonda: A devastating fire broke out at the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Nidmanoor, Nalgonda district, on Sunday, causing extensive damage to medical infrastructure, equipment, and essential supplies.
The blaze, which is suspected to have been triggered by an electrical short circuit, rapidly engulfed the facility. As per the news reports, the fire gutted almost all essential assets within the PHC, including refrigerators used for vaccine storage, hospital beds, medicines, patient records, computers, and printers. Valuable medical equipment and documents were also reduced to ashes, severely affecting the functioning of the centre. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries have been reported.

Fire tenders and police arrived shortly after the fire was reported, but were unable to prevent the rapid spread of the flames.
Deputy DMHO Kesa Ravi visited the health centre to assess the extent of the damage. According to medical officer Dr Aravind, further investigations are underway to determine the exact cause, Telangana Today reports.
The incident highlights the need for regular electrical safety audits and disaster preparedness in government healthcare facilities.

Medical Dialogues had previously reported that a fire erupted in the maternity block of the Government Raja Mirasudar General Hospital in Thanjavur, prompting the evacuation of around 150 people, including pregnant women, newborns, and hospital staff. The blaze is suspected to have been triggered by a short circuit in an air conditioning unit, causing significant smoke to billow throughout the building, leading to breathing problems for several staff members. As a precaution, the hospital's electricity supply was cut off to prevent the fire from escalating. Emergency protocols were activated, and the hospital staff worked diligently to evacuate patients, staff, and others in the building.
