Chandigarh: A fire broke out in the blood bank of Government Multi-Speciality Hospital (GMSH), Sector 16, Chandigarh, early Tuesday. The blaze was quickly brought under control, and no injuries were reported, officials said.
The fire was first detected by the staff on duty, and it was put out by the security personnel after an alert.

Authorities said necessary safety measures were immediately put in place to safeguard the premises and ensure continuity of blood bank operations without disruption.
A preliminary assessment indicated a short circuit in the air-conditioning unit behind the fire.
"No loss of life or injury has been reported. There is also no significant damage to blood stocks, equipment, records, or infrastructure at this stage," the statement said, reports PTI.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that a fire broke out at a private hospital in Bengaluru during the early hours of Wednesday, prompting the evacuation of about fourteen patients, including some admitted to the ICU, police said. None of the patients or staff sustained any injuries, police said.
According to police, the incident occurred around 3.15 am at Aveksha Hospital on MS Palya Road in Singapura. Fire tenders were rushed to the spot immediately, and the blaze was brought under control, a senior police officer said.
