Fortis acquires Bengaluru's 110-bed Suguna Hospital for Rs 277 crore
Gurugram: Fortis Healthcare Limited, amongst India’s leading healthcare delivery companies, has announced its acquisition of Suguna Hospital in Bengaluru from, inter alia, Suguna Ramaiah Hospitals Private Limited through a slump sale.
The acquisition has been undertaken by FHL’s wholly-owned subsidiary International Hospital Limited (IHL), with the transaction being consummated today.
As part of the transaction, IHL would acquire the entire business operations of Suguna Hospital, along with the underlying hospital land and building. The transaction, structured as an all-cash deal, is in line with the Company’s cluster-focused inorganic growth strategy and further bolsters Fortis’ network in the city of Bengaluru.

Commissioned in 2006, Suguna Hospital is a 110-bedded facility located on Dr Rajkumar Road, Rajajinagar in North-West Bengaluru and has a potential to expand to ~150 beds. The hospital is strategically located in an affluent and densely populated catchment with strong connectivity. The acquisition positions Fortis as amongst the leading healthcare providers in the North-West Bengaluru corridor with approx. 500 potential beds across its existing facility in Rajajinagar, the People Tree facility in Yeshwanthpur and the Suguna Hospital.
The facility recorded revenues of approximately INR 50 Crores in FY26. The above acquisition and the planned investments for upgrading medical infrastructure, expanding clinical programs and adding bed capacity in Suguna Hospitals provide an opportunity for Fortis to leverage its existing brand presence and enhance the facility’s performance in future, the press release stated.
Dr Ashutosh Raghuvanshi, MD & CEO of the Company, said, “This acquisition expands our presence in the city and specifically in the North West Bengaluru corridor which we believe is an underserved catchment. With Suguna hospitals in our portfolio, we now have ~1000 operational beds in the city, including our O&M facilities; reinforcing our strategy of expanding and deepening our presence in our focused clusters. We foresee significant opportunities to leverage our existing network and drawing from scale and synergy efficiencies to optimize operations, while further strengthening our clinical capabilities and brand presence.”
Dr. R. Ravindra and Ms Sujatha Ravindra, Promoters of Suguna Hospital, said, “Over the years, Suguna Hospital has grown with a clear focus on delivering accessible and quality healthcare. The agreement with Fortis Healthcare represents an important step in the hospital’s next phase of growth. Fortis brings significant clinical expertise, operational capabilities and resources that will enable the hospital to expand its offerings and strengthen the care it provides to patients. We are confident that the transition will create new opportunities for the hospital and its employees while preserving the principles and values that have defined Suguna Hospital’s journey.”
