Ghaziabad Hospital sealed by authorities
Ghaziabad: Following the death of a 30-year-old patient allegedly during a kidney removal surgery at the private hospital, the Ghaziabad health department sealed the hospital in the Shalimar Garden area and suspended its registration on Thursday. An investigation into the alleged laxity that led to the patient's death has also been launched.
Taking action against the hospital, a four-doctor committee was constituted to check the validity of the documents on which the hospital was being run and the medical degree of the doctors.
A fortnight ago, doctors had operated on a man for gall bladder stone and discharged him, but with swelling appearing in his legs, he was admitted again to the same hospital on Monday afternoon. This time, doctors allegedly removed his kidney as part of the surgery, during which the patient died.

The hospital conducted two surgeries on the deceased patient, it has been claimed that the shock from two surgeries in a row was unbearable for his body, due to which he died later.
The Chief medical officer Dr Bhavtosh Shankdhar informed PTI that the committee would investigate if the death had been caused allegedly by medical negligence and legal action would be taken accordingly.
“We sealed the hospital on the day the patient died and suspended the hospital’s registration until further orders. This means that no patients would be treated at the hospital and the hospital administration would be unable to function. We have also formed a team of four doctors to investigate the causes of death and the alleged laxity of hospital authorities,” Dr Shankhdhar told HT.
Earlier, the father of the patient, in his police complaint, alleged that his son had died at 4 pm on Monday, but the doctors concealed the fact from the family.
ACP Sahibadad Bhaskar Rao said the complaint was forwarded to the CMO for further investigation.
On the preliminary instructions of the Deputy CM, the CMO suspended the registration of the said hospital and sealed the hospital in the presence of the police.
On Tuesday morning, residents of the colony gathered outside the hospital and blocked the traffic. They also manhandled the hospital staff, including doctors. Afraid of a beating, they locked themselves inside a room in the hospital.
Action will be taken against the doctor who performed the surgery if his credentials are found wanting, the ACP said.
“I admitted my son to the hospital, and he underwent a gall bladder surgery and a kidney stone surgery five days later. He was admitted to the hospital again on Monday after he developed some complications and died late Monday. When we questioned the staff, they attacked us with baseball bats, hockey sticks and sharp-edged weapons,” Rohit’s father, Leelu Parcha, said in his police complaint.
Later, his body was taken for post-mortem and the reports will help the department to determine the severity of the case.
