Govt Doctors declare foetus dead, pregnant woman delivers healthy boy hours later in Almora
Almora: After doctors of a local government hospital told a pregnant woman from Almora that her baby had died in the womb and needed to be removed by surgery, she gave birth to a healthy baby a few hours later inside the ambulance on way to another health facility to everyone's surprise.
The 23-year-old woman went into labour and gave birth to a baby boy with the help of the medics present inside the ambulance, reports the Times of India.

The woman's family members said that when the authorities of the first hospital told her to go to Ranikhet for the surgery, her condition began to worsen. The staff of the Chaukhutia hospital termed it a "case of negligence". The woman comes from a village in the Gairsain block of Chamoli district.
An Anganwadi worker, Leela Devi, said that the doctors after briefly examining the woman on Sunday told the family members that the child's heartbeat had stopped. Leela said, "There was no facility of delivering a 'stillborn', so the woman was referred elsewhere. Disappointed, her family took her in the ambulance. After travelling for about 2 km, the woman gave birth to a healthy baby to the sheer joy of everyone inside the emergency vehicle. It was nothing short of a miracle."
A family member told TOI, "We were very surprised to find the child alive. Both the mother and son are doing well, as of now."
Speaking on the incident, Dr Amit Ratan, in charge of the community health centre at Chaukhutia said, "On reaching the hospital, the legs of the child had partly come out of the mother's womb. They were completely blue. In that moment, a doctor on duty found that the child did not have a heartbeat," adding, "The newborn boy wasn't declared dead in the hospital, we only expressed such a possibility."
