Gynaecologist appointed at Nurpur Civil Hospital after 2 years
Nurpur: The Health and Family Welfare Department has recently appointed Dr Komal Sharma as the new gynaecologist of the Civil hospital in Nurpur.
For the past two years, the hospital was functioning without a proper gynaecologist and patients were facing difficulties as they were forced to travel to other areas of the Kangra District to get the treatment.
As per The Tribune report, the health and family welfare department appointed Dr Sharma for the fourth time in a row as earlier three other doctors did not continue work at the hospital.

Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported about the shortage of doctors at the Nurpur Civil hospital that the post for a gynaecologist was lying vacant at the Nurpur Civil Hospital in spite of the Health and Family Welfare Department's official orders directing the post to be filled thrice in the last two years. The post of gynaecologist was lying vacant in the hospital since August of 2020. The post of radiologist which was filled after two years also got vacant in January this year.
Pregnant women were reported to have been facing problems because of the absence of a gynaecologist. Under the Centre-sponsored Janani Suraksha Yojana, pregnant women can avail themselves of free clinical tests and institutional deliveries in government hospitals. However, the Janani Suraksha Yojana scheme is of no use to them as they have not received any benefits from the Yojana yet.

Chamba district was also facing inconvenience since 2020 and residents were complaining about the lack of doctors at the government hospitals for years. A post for a radiologist and specialist doctors is lying vacant at the hospitals. The locals had no other option but to go to the private hospital for treatment and testing.
