Haryana to sign MoU with Medanta Hospital to strengthen maternal, child healthcare

Chandigarh: Haryana Health Minister, Ms. Arti Singh Rao, has announced an important initiative to strengthen healthcare services in rural areas of the state. As part of this initiative, the Haryana Health Department will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Medanta Hospital through the Medanta Foundation.
She said that the main aim of this partnership is to upgrade and strengthen Maternal and Child Health (MCH) services at Sub-District Hospital Ateli and Community Health Centres (CHCs) at Farrukhnagar and Mirpur.
According to the Health Minister, the entire partnership will work under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. Under this collaboration, labour rooms and C-section operation theatre facilities will be modernised. Neonatal care, advanced diagnostic services and ambulance support will also be ensured. Special focus will also be given to skill development and capacity building of healthcare staff, according to the PIB.

The Health Minister said that the MoU has initially been proposed for a period of three years. The duration can be extended further based on mutual agreement and satisfactory performance by both sides.
Ms. Arti Singh Rao expressed hope that soon after the signing of the MoU, quality maternal and child healthcare services in the Ateli region will improve significantly, while similar improvements will be seen at the CHCs in Farrukhnagar and Mirpur within six months. She said this step will prove to be a milestone in strengthening secondary healthcare delivery in backward areas of the state.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that the Haryana government announced a series of measures aimed at enforcing discipline, accountability and round-the-clock healthcare services in government hospitals across the state. The directives were issued by Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, Sumita Misra, following a high-level State Task Force review meeting with civil surgeons, principal medical officers (PMOs), senior medical officers (SMOs), and senior health department officers.
