Himachal HC slams State over infrastructure delays at AIMSS Chamiana

AIMSS Infrastructure Delays Trigger HP High Court Warning
Shimla: The Atal Institute of Medical Super Specialities (AIMSS), Chamiana, has come under sharp scrutiny from the Himachal Pradesh High Court over prolonged delays in providing basic infrastructure and facilities, with the court warning that senior officials may be summoned personally to explain the inaction.
According to the news reports, a division bench comprising Chief Justice Gurmeet Singh Sandhawalia and Justice Jiya Lal Bhardwaj observed that despite repeated directions and the presence of senior secretaries during earlier hearings, substantial progress had not been made even after more than a year. The bench made it clear that if the required steps are not completed by the next date of hearing, the concerned secretaries would be asked to appear in court to justify the delay.

Parking emerged as another major issue. The court noted that while the hospital requires parking space for around 1,000 vehicles, only about 60 parking spots are currently available. The PWD secretary has been directed to submit a comprehensive plan to address the acute parking shortage.
The court also flagged inadequate public transport connectivity and directed the managing director of the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) to file an affidavit outlining measures to improve connectivity between AIMSS Chamiana and major points such as ISBT and IGMC Shimla.

As per TOI media report, the court said NGO Almighty Blessing is providing free meals to the patients and attendants at AIMSS, Chamiana, and, accordingly, steps should be taken to temporarily provide this NGO with some space, so that the patient and their attendants can take their meals at a place instead of on the road.
