Indore: MY Hospital Set to Launch Advanced Modular Operation Theatres
Indore: The newly built modular operation theatres (OTs) at Maharaja Yeshwantrao (MY) Hospital in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, are expected to be operational within a month. This upgrade will provide patients with access to advanced surgical facilities.
The new modular OT complex at MY Hospital will feature eight major operation theatres and one minor OT, increasing the total number of operation theatres at the facility from 15 to 24, including the existing burn unit. This expansion is a vital step in addressing the growing demand for surgical procedures at the hospital. A department-wise allocation of the new operating theatres (OTs) will be determined in an upcoming meeting at MGM Medical College to ensure their optimal utilization. The new facility is designed to handle both emergency and elective surgeries, with emergency procedures continuing in the existing OTs on the ground floor.

Dr Ashok Yadav, Superintendent of MY Hospital, emphasized that the new modular operating theatres (OTs) will significantly reduce waiting times for surgeries, improving access to timely medical care for patients from Indore as well as across Madhya Pradesh. He noted that the hospital conducts over one lakh surgeries annually, with the majority performed by the orthopaedics department.
The development of modular operating theatres (OTs) faced several challenges, including financial disputes between the Project Implementation Unit (PIU) and the medical college, as well as technical issues like leakage. However, these issues have now been resolved, and the new OTs are on track to become fully functional. With these upgrades, MY Hospital is set to offer high-quality surgical care, enhancing its facilities to align with the standards of the best private healthcare institutions in the region.
