J P Nadda inaugurates 210-bed super speciality block at Darbhanga Medical College Hospital
Darbhanga: Union Health Minister J P Nadda on Saturday inaugurated a 210-bed super speciality hospital at Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), Darbhanga.
According to a UNI report, Nadda while addressing a function organised on the occasion, said that people of Darbhanga and its surrounding region would not be required to go to Patna or New Delhi for specialised treatment of any disease, as all such facilities were now available in this newly built super speciality hospital itself.
Those suffering from cardiac, nephrology and neurology complications would now get treatment in Darbhanga, he added.

"With your blessings, Narendra Modi has become Prime Minister for the third consecutive term and I also got the opportunity to become Union Health Minister for the second occasion", Minister said adding that strength lay with people while he and others in power were only policymakers. Health care facilities had improved considerably in the country after the Narendra Modi government was voted to power at the Centre, he stressed, news agency UNI reported.
"A super speciality eye hospital has been established in premises of Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Patna which is one of the best opthalmology units in the country", Nadda said adding that more than one thousand cornea transplantation had been conducted in ophthalmology department of IGIMS, Patna.It was heartening to note that no one having any sort of serious ailments in eye would be required to go to New Delhi for treatment, he assured.
Union Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had decided to establish All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Darbhanga which would be second in Bihar, as the first AIIMS was opened in Patna during the regime of erstwhile Vajpayee government.
The Number of Medical Colleges in the country was 387 in 2014 but it had been increased to 731 after the Narendra Modi government was voted to power, he pointed out.
Nadda said that new medical colleges were being opened in 157 districts across the country. With assistance and active support from Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, new medical colleges had been opened in Purnia, Saran, Samastipur, Siwan, Buxar, Madhubani and Jamui districts of Bihar, he added.
A total of 35 medical colleges were being opened in Bihar while number of seats in medical colleges across the country had been increased from 51000 to 1,12,112, he further said adding that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had directed to take steps for adding 75000 new such seats further.
