Jamshedpur: MGM medical college hospital undergoes NMC Inspection
Jamshedpur: The National Medical Commission (NMC), the apex medical regulatory body has sent a one-member team to inspect Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical Hospital in order to increase the seats in the hospital.
MGMCH earlier asked NMC permission to add three more seats for Forensic Medicine and Toxicology in the government medical college.
In response, NMC sent a one-member team including Dr Hemant Karkare of Lokmanya Gangadhar Tilak Medical College and Hospital, Mumbai to inspect the infrastructure and facilities of the hospital.

Dr Karkare was accompanied by the Principal of MGMCH Dr KN Singh and deputy superintendent of MGMCH Nakul Prasad Choudhary to inspect the hospital premises smoothly.
The hospital's emergency department, gynaecology department, medical centre, COVID care centre and blood bank were inspected each by Dr Karkare, who is also a Professor of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology in Mumbai.
After that, he then went to the doctor's section and asked the on-duty doctors about the condition of the hospital and paid attention to the medicine shortage at the hospital.

As per the Avenue Hall report, Dr Kurkure informed that a report will be soon submitted to NMC for further approval.
MGM Medical College was established in the year 1961, under the Chairmanship, who has earned national and international credentials for the promotion of Medico-Social services. MGM Medical College is one of the 3 medical colleges in JHARKHAND, only in KOLHAN TRIBAL BELT catering to the needs and fulfilling the aspirations of the tribal population of the state, in terms of infrastructure, academic facilities and modern sophisticated medical equipment.
Medical Dialogues team earlier had reported that MGM medical college hospital will get five additional departments, an allocation of Rs 11.9 crores approved by the State Government. With an aim to provide greater treatments to the patients, the State government has allocated the funds to MGM medical college hospital.
