Jaunpur AYUSH hospital sealed after newborn death, kin alleges negligence

Jaunpur: Allegations of Medical negligence have been made against AYUSH Hospital in Dhaniyamau Bazaar, under the Baksa police station area of Jaunpur, after a newborn died following an alleged premature delivery procedure. Following the incident, the administration sealed the hospital and launched an investigation.

The incident involves a woman from Sarai Harakhu village panchayat. According to her family members, she had been undergoing treatment in Jaunpur and was not yet due for delivery. The village head of Sarai Harakhu said an earlier ultrasound report had indicated that approximately 20 to 25 days remained before her expected delivery.

The situation reportedly changed after the patient’s health suddenly deteriorated. Her family took her to AYUSH Hospital in Dhaniyamau, where they alleged that doctors failed to conduct a proper examination before deciding to perform a procedure.

The family further alleged that the doctors then hurriedly performed a procedure despite there being no immediate medical requirement. They claimed that the newborn needed intensive care after birth, but the hospital did not have adequate ICU facilities.

According to the family, the lack of proper medical facilities and intensive care led to a deterioration in the newborn's condition, following which the baby died.

Upon receiving news of the incident, tension spread in the area. Considering the seriousness of the situation, local police, the Badlapur magistrate, the Nopedwa CHC superintendent, and Jaunpur's Deputy CMO, Dr. Alok Singh, along with his team, arrived at the scene, reports Dainik Bhaskar.

Following the inspection, the administration sealed the facility and initiated an investigation into its operations and the circumstances surrounding the newborn's death.

Police have also begun taking legal action in connection with the incident.

Medical Dialogues had previously reported that in a shocking incident, a needle was found lodged inside the body of a one-year-old girl, with her parents alleging on Friday that it may have been left behind during treatment at Kottayam Medical College Hospital, following which a medical negligence complaint was filed against the hospital.
