Jharkhand HC extends stay on demolition of Kailash Kothi at RIMS premises

RIMS Ranchi
Ranchi: The Jharkhand High Court on Monday extended the stay on the demolition of 'Kailash Kothi', a property situated on the premises of the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Ranchi, and directed the deputy commissioner to verify the documents claiming the ownership of the property.
A division bench, comprising Chief Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan and Justice Rajesh Shankar, was hearing a petition filed by a person named Khushbu Singh, claiming ownership of ‘Kailash Kothi’.
According to the PTI report, Singh had moved the court after the district administration served a notice of eviction and demolition of the structure.

The administration has been carrying out an anti-encroachment drive to remove encroachments from the RIMS campus, in compliance with orders of the high court.
During the hearing, Singh also produced documents to state the ownership of ‘Kailash Kothi’ before the court. The petitioner claimed that the property was never acquired by RIMS.
The high court directed the deputy commissioner to verify the documents presented by Singh, and also produce the gadget notification for plot number 1,694 in ‘Morabadi Mauja’ on which ‘Kailash Kothi’ was constructed, reports PTI.
On December 3, the court had directed the district administration to remove all encroachments from the RIMS premises within 72 hours.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that to meet the increasing demand for neurological care, the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) is set to add 30 beds to its neurology department, expanding the total capacity from 100 to 130 beds. The move aims to ensure timely treatment for patients.
Speaking to TOI, an official at RIMS said, “The additional beds will enable the department to efficiently handle increased patient inflow while ensuring timely specialised treatment for patients suffering from conditions such as stroke, epilepsy, brain tumours, and other complex neurological diseases.”
