Jaipur: In a shocking incident that has sparked widespread public concern, a lab attendant at Jodhpur's state-run hospital became the centre of attention after he performed an ECG scan on a patient after watching a YouTube clip due to the unavailability of doctors and staff during Diwali. The purported video of the incident has gone viral on social media prompting the administration to launch an inquiry.
In the viral video, the family members of the patient could be seen raising objections saying that conducting the scan without proper knowledge could kill him, to which the attendant said he had no other option as there was no staff.
The helper is also heard saying that the lab attendant has gone home on Diwali leave. Everything has been installed in the right place and the machine will do whatever work it needs to do, he added.

As per the PTI news agency report, the incident recently occurred at a Satellite Hospital located in Pawta, a video of which surfaced on Saturday, according to officials.
During the conversation captured in the video as per the attendant of the patient could be heard saying, "You do not know about the ECG test, it is an important test. You may kill the patient. The work is related to ECG, please understand. How will you conduct the ECG test after watching it on the net (internet)?"
In response, the lab attendant said, "Yes, I am conducting it for the first time. But is there any problem?... I have not done the ECG test and am not a technician. But, the hospital staff is absent due to Diwali."
After the video surfaced, Principal BS Jodha of the attached medical college said necessary action would be taken after investigating the matter and the video.
"The video surfaced on Friday, November 1, and the matter is under investigation. Action will be taken against the accused. The test is not life-threatening. The incorrect ECG point placement does not pose any danger to the patient, it only results in an inaccurate report," Jodha told India Today.
