Why take away security from hospital? LHMC resident doctors demand reinstatement of terminated security personnel

New Delhi: Days after the state-run Lady Hardinge Medical College and Associated Hospital (LHMC) has withdrawn the services of marshals and bouncers hired for security purposes in the hospital campus, the Resident Doctors' Association (RDA) of the hospital has strongly opposed the move and requested to reinstate marshals/bouncers, which will provide a safe environment for working resident doctors.
In a letter to the hospital's Director on Thursday, it said the assault on resident doctors is increasing day by day and trimming the workforce of hospital security will make it worse.
Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that state-run Lady Hardinge Medical College and Associated SSK & KSC Hospitals had issued an order temporarily withdrawing the services of marshals and bouncers hired for security purposes in the hospital, days after the Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya visited the hospital.
The order issued by deputy director Dr V K Sharma on October 31 observed that the services of the marshals and bouncers would be terminated with immediate effect

Some doctors of the association said that if bouncers are removed then there should be the deployment of CISF or any other force as withdrawing the bouncers will put their lives at risk.
"The Resident Doctors' Association strongly opposes the decision of temporarily terminating security marshals/bouncers deployed in our institution," the RDA said.

On the instructions of Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, the services of marshals and bouncers were withdrawn from Lady Hardinge Medical College and Associated Hospitals from November 1.
