Lok Nayak Hospital Opens Delhi's First Model Treatment Centre for Hepatitis

New Delhi: Lok Nayak Hospital earlier this week, inaugurated a Model Treatment Centre (MTC) dedicated to the management of Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C under the National Viral Hepatitis Control Programme (NVHCP), marking a significant advancement in Delhi’s efforts to combat viral hepatitis.
According to hospital officials, this facility is the first MTC of its kind in the national capital. The centre has been set up with the aim of providing comprehensive care—from early detection to advanced treatment—for patients suspected or diagnosed with Hepatitis B or Hepatitis C. With the burden of viral hepatitis continuing to pose a major public health challenge in India, the centre is expected to play a crucial role in improving access to quality diagnostics and treatment.
The newly launched MTC will offer free screening for individuals showing symptoms or risk factors associated with the two infections. Once diagnosed, patients will receive free clinical evaluations, laboratory tests, antiviral medicines, and follow-up care. Hospital authorities have emphasized that no patient will be charged for any diagnostic or therapeutic service provided under the programme.
“The MTC at Lok Nayak Hospital provides free diagnostics, treatment, and other support services to all patients,” the hospital’s Medical Director, Dr BL Chaudhary, said in a statement.
