LNJP Hospital to launch Medical Genetics Ward, NAT Facility

New Delhi: The Delhi government's Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital is all set to launch two specialised medical units - a medical genetics ward and a nucleic acid amplification testing (NAT) facility, that will boost the hospital’s diagnostic services.
The Delhi government is set to inaugurate two specialised medical units - a medical genetics ward and a nucleic acid amplification testing (NAT) facility- at the city-run Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital on Thursday.
According to the PTI report, aimed at strengthening the capital’s public healthcare infrastructure, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Health Minister Pankaj Singh will inaugurate the new facilities at 10 am on Thursday, officials said.
He said that the new additions are part of the government’s broader vision to modernise Delhi’s healthcare system and introduce advanced diagnostic and treatment options in government hospitals.

The Medical Genetics Ward will provide diagnosis, treatment, and counselling for patients suffering from inherited genetic disorders.
The NAT facility will enhance the hospital’s diagnostic capabilities. NAT is a technique used for the early detection of infections such as HIV, hepatitis B, and hepatitis C — particularly in donated blood — ensuring safer transfusion services.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that in a significant administrative move aimed at strengthening public healthcare facilities, the Delhi government has appointed and transferred 26 senior medical officials, including medical superintendents, principals and medical directors from their current postings to major government hospitals across the capital. The major healthcare institutions include Lok Nayak Hospital, Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital, Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital, Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital, and GB Pant Hospital.
An official order issued by the Lieutenant Governor (L-G) mentioned that Dr Rati Makkar has been appointed as the new Director General of Health Services (DGHS) in Delhi. She was earlier working as a Senior Medical Officer at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital.
