Maa Kauvery inaugurates specialised 120-bed Women and Children's Hospital
Tamil Nadu Health Minister Dr K.G. Arunraj inaugurated the new Maa Kauvery facility on August 25, expanding specialised healthcare services for women, newborns and children in Chennai.
Chennai: A new specialised healthcare facility for women and children has been inaugurated in Chennai, with Maa Kauvery launching a 120-bed hospital at Kauvery Hospital.
The facility brings together maternal, fertility, neonatal and paediatric care, with dedicated critical-care units for newborns and children.
Tamil Nadu Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Minister Dr K.G. Arunraj formally inaugurated the hospital on August 25, 2026. The event was attended by Kauvery Group of Hospitals’ Founder and Executive Chairman Dr S Chandrakumar, Founder and Managing Director Dr Manivannan Selvaraj, Co-Founder and Executive Director Dr Aravindan Selvaraj, and Co-Founder and Executive Director Dr D. Senguttuvan.

The hospital will provide comprehensive maternity services, including care for normal as well as high-risk pregnancies. Its birthing facilities will cover antenatal, delivery and postnatal requirements. The centre will also offer fetal medicine and advanced laparoscopic gynaecological surgery, reports BW Healthcare World.
Women’s healthcare services will extend to fertility treatment, with assisted reproductive procedures such as Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) and In Vitro Fertilization (IVF). Other services will cover menstrual health, PCOS, menopause, counselling and preventive care. The facility will also provide gynaecologic oncology and breast health services, including mammography.
For newborns requiring intensive medical support, Maa Kauvery has established a Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The unit will cater to critically ill and premature newborns, including babies born before 30 weeks of gestation or weighing less than 1.5 kg. Neonatal specialists, respiratory support and advanced life-support systems will be available round the clock.
Paediatric care will include a Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), 24-hour emergency services and specialist departments covering pulmonology, nephrology, haematology and critical care.
Dr Senguttuvan said the new facility builds on the group’s experience with its 200-bed Maa Kauvery hospital in Trichy, which has been operational since 2024. He said the Chennai facility seeks to bring specialised women’s and children’s healthcare services together with dedicated critical-care infrastructure.
