Maharashtra to strengthen rural healthcare with 400-bed Hinganghat hospital
Wardha: The Maharashtra government has begun construction of a new 400-bed hospital in Hinganghat, a project expected to significantly strengthen healthcare services for rural communities in Wardha district and surrounding areas.
The hospital is being developed to expand access to advanced medical facilities and reduce the need for patients to travel to larger cities for treatment.
The project was formally launched with a bhoomipujan ceremony attended by state ministers and local public representatives. Gram Vikas and Panchayati Raj Minister Jaykumar Gore said the upcoming hospital would serve as a major healthcare centre for residents of Hinganghat and surrounding rural regions.

The ceremony was attended by Guardian Minister Pankaj Bhoyar, Minister of State for Health Meghna Sakore-Bordikar, MLA Samir Kunawar, Hinganghat Municipal Council President Nayana Tulsakar, District Collector Vanmathi C, Chief Executive Officer Parag Soman, and other government officials, reports Times of India.
The new hospital will provide several specialised healthcare services under one roof. Planned facilities include MRI, CT scan, dialysis services, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). These services are expected to improve local access to diagnostic and critical care, particularly for emergency cases, maternal and neonatal care, and patients requiring advanced medical treatment.
The hospital is expected to strengthen the district’s healthcare infrastructure by enabling a broader range of medical services to be delivered within Hinganghat itself. Officials indicated that the project would help improve healthcare accessibility for the rural population and support timely treatment closer to patients’ homes.
During the event, Minister Jaykumar Gore also announced that the Ajnasara temple, currently classified under ‘C’ category, would be upgraded to ‘B’ category status. He directed officials to immediately submit the proposal for the upgrade and announced an allocation of Rs 5 crore for the temple’s development.
The hospital project represents a major public health infrastructure initiative for the Hinganghat region and is expected to play an important role in improving healthcare capacity and access across surrounding rural areas.
