Massive Fire breaks out at TN Medical College Hospital
Ramanathapuram: A massive fire broke out at the Government Medical College and Hospital in Tamil Nadu's Ramanathapuram on Wednesday. Seven fire tenders were pressed into service to control the blaze, an officer said.
According to the PTI report, the fire broke out in the administrative wing on the second floor, they said.
There was no loss of life reported in the fire incident. The cause of the fire is said to be an electrical leakage, the officer added.
Patients were evacuated safely due to the spread of smoke as shown in the pictures.
All the patients, attendants and hospital staff on the second, third and fourth floors were swiftly evacuated using wheelchairs and stretchers and moved to the adjacent building, while two patients undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) were shifted to the comprehensive Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care Unit, news agency UNI reported.

Seven fire tenders were pressed into service to bring the flames under control. The smoke was also cleared from the room, they said.
District Collector Simranjeet Singh Kalon and District Superintendent of Police G Sandish rushed to the hospital and carried out rescue work.
The fire has been brought under control, they said.
A detailed investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause of the fire.
