Noida: In a reported case of assault, a doctor and staff working at the Noida-based Post Graduate Institute of Child Health (Child PGI) has been booked by the police for allegedly assaulting a lab technician in the hospital on 28th January.
The complaint was filed by 25-year-old technician Vimal Kumar at the District Combined Hospital, who alleged that a junior doctor and a staff of the Child PGI came to his consol around 12.30 pm.

In the complaint, Kumar said, "They started abusing me and later thrashed me. The doctor slapped me first and then Anil joined in. I was hit multiple times. While leaving, they threatened me as well. I was thrashed for no reason."
Meanwhile, the video of the incident was recorded on the CCTV camera, which shows a woman gesturing and attempting to slap a man, and other people are shown to be having a heated discussion with him. Both parties are eventually seen as getting into a heated discussion and raising hands with the intention to hit, which was brought to a halt by a security guard who rushed to the space between them.
Speaking to the Times of India, a senior officer said, "We have registered a case under sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (insult intended to provoke breach of peace) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Sector 20 police station. Further investigation is underway." The police observed that they are trying to determine the sequence of the events.
Stating that the hospital is looking into the case, Child PGI director, Brig Dr DK Gupta said, "We have constituted an internal inquiry committee. After its report, a decision will be taken on any action to be taken by the hospital."
