Odisha: CHC Doctor treats patient under mobile phone's flashlight
Kendrapara: A video has gone viral on social media where it can be seen that the doctor and staff of Rajnagar Community Health Centre (CHC) were treating a patient using a mobile torchlight. The act has received criticism from the netizens.
The incident took place when a patient named Krupasindhu Sahoo, a resident of Bhatapada village was suffering from serious head injuries caused by a road accident and got admitted to the centre on Friday night and needed immediate surgery. In order to save the patient, the doctor and the staff at the centre had to perform a small surgery using a mobile torchlight due to lack of electricity. The act was captured in a video by the patient's attendant and was allegedly put out on social media.
In response to this, a probe into the matter has been initiated by the district health administration on Saturday. Soon reports regarding the incident will be submitted revealing the seriousness of the incident.

Rashmiranjan Mohanty, MO of the CHC told TNIE, "It was a minor surgery and the medical staff were forced to use the mobile flashlight as there was a power cut in the middle of the treatment and they had no other option before the generator could be started. The mobile light was used only for five minutes before power was restored. The videos of the surgery were leaked to malign us."
The incident has raised concerns over the quality of services provided at the centre. However, the area where the centre is located had witnessed earlier hours of a power outage. As per the statement of the MO, the generator was facing a technical issue forcing doctors to take this extreme step.
