OPD services at Piduguralla hospital from May 20

Vijayawada- As part of preparations to begin MBBS admissions for the 2026-27 academic year at the newly established Government Medical College (GMC), it was recently announced that OPD services will begin at the Piduguralla Teaching Hospital starting May 20.
In this regard, AP Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav reviewed the progress of civil works and faculty recruitment during a two-hour review meeting at the Secretariat on Tuesday.
During the review, the minister assessed the status of appointments for Professors, Associate Professors, Assistant Professors, and Tutors.
The primary focus of the review was civil works. Yadav emphasised that major construction projects should be expedited and completed by May 20. In this regard, he personally spoke with the construction agency to ensure adherence to the stipulated timeline, report TNIE.
Along with this, he directed officials to expedite construction work and staff recruitment in accordance with the norms of the National Medical Commission (NMC). He also instructed the Directorate of Medical Education, the Directorate of Public Health, and district officials to complete the recruitment process by the end of this month, even on a contractual basis, if necessary, to fulfill immediate requirements.
Further, he directed officials to arrange equipment and furniture for the college and hospital within the stipulated timeframe.
Additionally, the Minister directed officials to inform residents about the commencement of OPD services and to make efforts to reach out to the public, so that the community can avail itself of these new facilities. He also suggested that, during the initial phase, temporary transport arrangements be made to assist patients in reaching the hospital.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that the Andhra Pradesh Government has recently approved the recruitment of 520 posts across 45 categories for Piduguralla Medical College, including Professors, Associate Professors, Assistant Professors, and other support staff.
