OT attendant poses as doctor, allegedly performs breast surgery at MP Hospital; suspended

Narmadapuram- In a shocking incident, an Operation Theatre (OT) attendant at a government hospital in Madhya Pradesh's Narmadapuram district has been suspended for allegedly impersonating a doctor and performing a breast surgery on a woman, officials said on Sunday.
This incident occurred at a civil hospital in the town of Pipariya and came to light eight days after the procedure, when the victim, a resident of Singnama village, lodged a complaint with the Block Medical Officer.
According to sources, the accused allegedly performed a procedure to remove a lump from the patient's breast at a government hospital, without any authorisation and in the absence of a surgeon.
Following the incident, he was immediately suspended, and an investigation against him is underway. However, no further details regarding this matter have been shared.
Officials stated that the Block Medical Officer (BMO) and other officials were unaware that this procedure had been carried out at that centre at that time.
Meanwhile, speaking on the matter, district chief medical and health officer Dr Narsingh Gehlot told PTI, “Two days ago, the patient lodged a complaint with block medical officer (BMO) Richa Katakwar, who, in turn, after initial investigation, sent me the plaint on Friday”.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that the Bihar Health Department had suspended the Deputy Superintendent and two medical officers at Jamui Sadar Hospital for their alleged involvement in concealing crucial details in a post-mortem report linked to a custodial death. The case relates to the death of Sidhu Koda, also known as Munshi Da, a resident of Nehaldih in the Chakai area of Jamui district, who died in police custody on February 22, 2020.
