PCMC Launches Inquiry into alleged Financial Irregularities at Jijamata Hospital
Pune: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has initiated a departmental inquiry against a clerk over alleged financial irregularities at the civic-run Jijamata Hospital. The investigation focuses on claims that the clerk delayed depositing Rs. 18.66 lakhs in treatment fees, collected from patients, into the PCMC treasury.
The delay is suspected to have resulted in financial mismanagement and potential embezzlement.

The ongoing inquiry, which was initiated on Monday, uncovered these financial irregularities. Additionally, bank officials became part of the investigation after it was found that they had been seen stamping receipts for the delayed deposits. These findings have raised serious concerns about the financial discipline at the hospital and the potential misuse of public funds.
In response, a special committee was formed to probe the issue and its findings. Deputy Commissioner of PCMC, Vitthal Joshi, confirmed that a preliminary inquiry had been launched into the matter.
As per the recent media report, commenting on this Joshi told Hindustan Times, “Prima facie, the clerk Gosavi seems guilty of negligence. The committee is also investigating the possibility of other senior staff being involved in this.”

The accused, a 24-year-old woman from Thiruvarur district, was employed as a cashier at the private hospital run by Dr. Maithili and her husband, Dr. Palani. Both are experienced doctors and residents of Metrozone Flats in Chennai. The couple has been managing the hospital, located in Anna Nagar West Extension, for nearly a decade. The situation came to light when several of the patients reported that their payments were not being reflected in the hospital records.
