The accused who works as a pharmacist was caught red-handed by the staff who intervened and informed the police following which she was taken into custody.
While interrogating the accused, the police discovered that the accused had preplanned the murder for a long time as she wanted to possess her friend by eliminating his wife. She managed to collect a nurse coat, and a syringe to pose as a real nurse at the hospital. In fact, she also wore a mask and a shawl to hide her identity.
The incident took place on Friday evening when the woman after giving birth the previous day at the hospital decided to stay with her mother even after discharge because her newborn required neonatal care.
Talking about the incident, Pulikeezhu inspector of police Ajeeb Ebrahim informed TNIE, “The accused reached the hospital disguised as a nurse on Friday evening. Then she entered the room where the woman and her baby were admitted. After entering the room, she allegedly tried to inject air into the woman’s vein. However, the hospital staff questioned the accused as they grew suspicious, and informed the police. Thus, she was taken into custody by the police.
During questioning, we understood that the accused was a friend of the husband of the woman who was admitted to the hospital. The accused is also married, and her husband is working abroad."
To escape from the situation, the accused earlier deleted all her chat history with the friend on WhatsApp. The police are currently on the move to recover the chats.
When the accused was interrogated intensely, she confessed to her crime and accepted the fact that she tried to kill the wife of her friend. According to the accused, her friend told her the location of the wife's hospital room as she faked an interest in visiting them.
Although the friend denied knowing her intentions, the police are in the process of extracting the information by investigating the matter further.
