Porvorim Ayurveda hospital faces complaint over alleged licence violations

Porvorim Ayurveda Centre Accused of Running Without Mandatory Licences in Goa
Panaji: In a significant development, the Goa Council of Ayurvedic and Other Allied Indian Systems of Medicine has filed a formal complaint against an ayurveda hospital and panchakarma centre in Porvorim, alleging that the facility has been operating without obtaining several mandatory statutory licences and approvals.
According to the news reports, council president Dr. Sneha Bhagwat said that during an inspection of the facility, officials found that most of the doctors practising there were not registered with the Goa Ayurvedic Council. Only two local practitioners were reportedly found to be duly registered.

Based on these findings, Dr. Bhagwat filed a complaint with the North Goa Superintendent of Police, the North Goa Collector, and the state health department, urging strict action against the establishment. She also sought suspension of its operations until all required licences, registrations, and statutory approvals are obtained.
Speaking to TOI, Bhagwat said, “The establishment was also found to be carrying out panchakarma and naturopathy treatments and dispensing medicines without possessing the necessary pharmacy licence. The inspection further revealed the absence of a Clinical Establishment Licence, pollution control board clearance, fire NOC, and other mandatory approvals. Employees working at the establishment were also found without valid health cards. Though the establishment claims to function as a 30-bedded hospital, no valid legal documentation supporting the same was produced during inspection.”
The council has expressed concern that the continued functioning of the Ayurveda and panchakarma centre without proper licences and approvals could pose serious risks to public health and patient safety.
Medical Dialogues had previously reported that, in a shocking incident, a man allegedly working as a doctor in the Critical Care Department of a private hospital in Siddipet was exposed by the Telangana Medical Council (TGMC) during an inspection for reportedly practising medicine without recognised qualifications.
