Puducherry: Doctors at private hospital remove 23 foreign objects from stomach of 20-year-old patient
Puducherry: Doctors at a private hospital in Puducherry discovered nearly 23 foreign objects inside a 20-year-old patient's stomach, all of which were successfully removed through an endoscopic procedure.
The doctors removed the harmful objects in two hours from the patient's stomach through endoscopic procedure that allows a doctor to view the inside of a person's body. Doctors use it to diagnose diseases in the following parts of the body: Esophagus. Stomach.
The foreign objects include 13 hairpins, five safety pins, and five razor blades. The patient is now out of danger and has recovered completely.

The incident came to light when the patient was admitted to the hospital on August 7 after he was suffering from severe abdominal pain for the past few weeks. Based on his condition and examination reports, the doctor discovered that the patient swallowed harmful objects.
It emerged that he was mentally ill and was under medication for a psychiatric illness.
In a press meeting, K. Sasikumar and K. Sugumaran, surgical gastroenterologists, Gem Hospital, and G. Rajesh Kumar, medical gastroenterologist said that they performed additional tests for ulcers and the scan reports came as normal.
"Subsequently, a team of medical professional later found the accumulation of ingested material, which included multiple sharp objects, that had become a hard mass of substance in the stomach," Dr Sasikumar informed TH.
“We removed 13 hairpins, five safety pins, and five razor blades from the stomach of the patient. The patient then started eating normally, and was discharged the next day,” Dr. Sasikumar claimed.
Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that doctors at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences successfully removed a six-inch-long knife from a man's back following a stabbing incident in a difficult surgery.
