Pune Hospital, Doctors served notice over death of 9-year-old due to negligence
Pune: A Consumer Forum has issued notice to a city hospital and its doctors for negligence on their part, which allegedly led to the death of a nine-year-old girl from Dubai, who arrived in India with her parents for treatment in December 2021.
Rhea Rohan Lobo from Dubai, who was down with a high temperature, cough, heavy breathing and slight rashes on her abdomen, was admitted to Ruby Hall Clinic at Wanowarie on December 27, 2021.

After routine check-ups and several tests, the Paediatric doctor referred her to the intensive care unit, stating that she was suffering from some bacterial infection and she will be fine after medications, said Advocate Ashutosh Srivastava, representing the complainant Sunil Lobo, a relative of the deceased.
It was alleged in the complaint that the doctors, nurses and staff neglected the basic requirements like routine sponging, sanitisation, clothes and bedsheet changes and even worse, the nurses neglected the patient's reports and did not do hourly clinical readings.
It was further alleged that Rhea was shifted from ICU from one private room to another, just to extort more money from the patient.
When her condition started deteriorating despite being kept under observation in hospital for 12 days, Rhea's parents on January 7, 2022, finally took the second opinion of a doctor from another hospital in Pune, who was also shocked to learn about the negligent treatment being given to such a delicate patient.
It was found during her respiratory biofire test that Rhea was actually suffering from acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), which the doctors at Ruby Hall Clinic kept proclaiming as a normal 'bacterial infection', which sadly caused her death on January 8, Advocate Srivastava said.
"I am positive that justice will prevail in due course of legal proceedings in the matter," he added.
