Quack arrested for operating illegal clinic for a decade

Fake doctor arrested
Chennai: A fake doctor was arrested in Thoraipakkam, on the outskirts of Chennai, for allegedly running an illegal clinic and prescribing allopathic medicines for nearly a decade without a valid medical degree.
According to the news reports, the 38-year-old accused, who studied only upto class 12, was running a clinic named “Vijay Clinic and Home Visit Service” at Okkiyam Thoraipakkam, despite having no medical qualifications. Acting on multiple complaints from the public, the Directorate of Medical and Rural Health Services conducted a surprise inspection of the clinic. The inspection team was led by Meenakshi Sundari, Joint Director of the department.

The police also seized a forged MBBS certificate that the fake doctor showed the officials, claiming that he had studied medicine in West Bengal. Based on a complaint lodged by the health officials, the Kannagi Nagar police registered a case and arrested him, reports the TNIE.
The accused was arrested and later produced before a magistrate's court in Chennai. The court remanded him to judicial custody.
