Ranchi's Sadar Hospital will add a Cath Lab and PET scan facility within three months and a bone marrow transplant unit within six months, as part of efforts to strengthen specialised healthcare services and reduce patient referrals outside Jharkhand
Ranchi: In a major push to strengthen advanced healthcare services in the state, Ranchi's Sadar Hospital is set to introduce a cardiac Catheterisation (Cath) laboratory and Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scan facility within the next three months.
The hospital is also expected to establish a bone marrow transplant unit within six months, expanding access to specialised treatment and reducing the need for patients to seek care outside the state.
The announcement was made following an inspection of the hospital by Ranchi Deputy Commissioner Shri Manjunath Bhajantri, who reviewed the functioning of multiple departments and interacted with patients and their attendants to assess the quality of healthcare services and the availability of medicines.
During the visit, the deputy commissioner inspected key areas including the outpatient department (OPD), CT scan and MRI units, pathology laboratory, orthopaedic ward, and paediatric ward. The inspection focused on evaluating patient care, service delivery, and identifying areas requiring further improvement, reports the Times of India.
According to the district administration, the planned addition of a Cath Lab and PET scan facility is expected to significantly enhance the hospital's diagnostic and interventional capabilities. The proposed bone marrow transplant unit will further strengthen tertiary care services.
Officials highlighted that Sadar Hospital already offers a wide range of diagnostic and specialised medical facilities. These include a 128-slice CT scanner, MRI, digital X-ray, round-the-clock ultrasound services, colour Doppler, dialysis, electrocardiography (ECG), treadmill testing (TMT), tele-radiology, a Tele-ICU hub, neurosurgery, plastic surgery, nerve conduction studies, and electroencephalography (EEG).
Commenting on the initiative, Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri said the administration remains committed to continuously enhancing medical facilities at Sadar Hospital and addressing existing gaps through regular monitoring and timely interventions. He added that sustained oversight would help ensure better healthcare services for patients.
