RIMS Imphal to be upgraded to AIIMS status, Senapati to get new medical college
Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh on Monday said Union Health Minister JP Nadda has agreed to upgrade the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, to the status of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
The minister made the remarks after meeting Nadda to discuss issues related to improving the health sector in the state.
In a social media post, Singh said, "The Union minister has agreed to upgrade the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences in Imphal to the status of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS)", reports PTI.

Singh expressed his gratitude to Nadda for taking steps towards improving healthcare in the state.
He also said Nadda had agreed to approve a proposal for setting up a new medical college in Senapati district.
The twin decisions—upgrading RIMS and establishing a new medical college in Senapati—are expected to strengthen specialised healthcare, medical education, postgraduate training and research in the state, reports Tripura Info.
The Manipur government is now expected to coordinate with the Union Health Ministry on the next steps to formalise the proposed upgrade, including the institutional and administrative framework required to implement the announcement.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda chaired a high-level meeting on Saturday to assess the expansion of Project SARATHI across hospitals and medical institutions across the country. Union Minister for Labour & Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, was also present during the meeting. The meeting reviewed the implementation and impact of Project SARATHI at PGIMER, Chandigarh, and deliberated on its replication across Central Government hospitals and other healthcare institutions.
