RIMS Ranchi adds 30 new beds to Neurology department

RIMS Expansion to Improve Access to Specialized Treatment Across Jharkhand
Ranchi: To meet the increasing demand for neurological care, the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) is set to add 30 beds to its neurology department, expanding the total capacity from 100 to 130 beds. The move aims to ensure timely treatment for patients.
Speaking to TOI, an official at RIMS said, “The additional beds will enable the department to efficiently handle increased patient inflow while ensuring timely specialised treatment for patients suffering from conditions such as stroke, epilepsy, brain tumours, and other complex neurological diseases.”

In addition, RIMS has set up a dedicated burn unit with advanced isolation and infection control facilities to treat severe burn injuries. The cancer unit now offers comprehensive services, including medical, radiation, and surgical oncology, under one roof.
The cardiology wing has also been strengthened with upgraded facilities for cath lab procedures, angiography, and open heart surgery, enabling the institute to perform complex cardiac interventions.
A resident of Latehar, Govind Kumar, said, “My father is battling cancer. I cannot afford treatment in a private hospital. Rims are always overcrowded. We hope the expansion will help patients like us to receive better care and timely treatment,” reports TOI.
The new facilities are expected to significantly improve patient care and reduce overcrowding at RIMS, one of Jharkhand’s leading tertiary care centres.
