Safdarjung Hospital to get private wards on PM Modi's birthday
Dr. BL Sherwal, Medical Superintendent of the Hospital said that the hospital will be inaugurated by Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. Since the facility is a private hospital, the cost of the rooms will rise to Rs 3,000 per day and the rate of the treatments will be followed as per Central Government Health Scheme norms.
New Delhi: The private ward at the centre-run Safdarjung Hospital will be inaugurated by Union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya on September 17 to improve patient healthcare amenities.
Previously, it was planned that the private ward located in the super-specialty block of the hospital would be inaugurated in October. However, the plan has been preponed to September 17, Narendra Modi's birthday.
Dr. BL Sherwal, Medical Superintendent of the Hospital, said that the hospital would be inaugurated by Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. Since the facility is a private hospital, the cost of the rooms will rise to Rs 3,000 per day, and the rates of the treatments will be followed as per Central Government Health Scheme norms.
"We are starting with 20 beds. They all are well equipped. There are a few minor arrangements that will be sorted out before the launch. The charges of the rooms have been fixed as per the rates of the Central Government Health Scheme," Dr. Sherwal added.
The private hospital will be equipped with modern technologies providing treatments for heart, neuro, kidneys, and lung disorders. Taking four years to complete, the facility will be launched tomorrow. The treatments will be provided at an affordable rate, said Dr. Sherwal.
Currently, the super specialty block has 192 general and 22 ICU private beds, but they aren't functional. Currently, the block has 228 available ICU beds and six modular operation theatres.
It is expected that Mandaviya will participate in a nationwide mega drive organized by him to promote voluntary blood donation. It will start on September 17 and conclude on October 1 on the occasion of PM's birthday, TNIE reports.
Safdarjung Hospital is one of the largest government-run hospitals and sees a daily footfall of 15,000-18,000 in its OPD, for which it has increased counters for patient registration.
