Sassoon hospital Dean gets hoax call in name of CM's PA, asks to stop canteens
Pune: The dean of the state-run BJ Medical College and Sassoon General Hospital in Pune has received a hoax phone call from a person claiming to be the Personal Assistant of the Maharashtra CM who reportedly asked him to stop the canteen services at the hospital.
The dean, Dr Sanjeev Thakur, has not filed any complaint regarding the same so far. The dean checked with the CM's office, confirming the call was a fraud attempt.

The caller, claiming to be Aniket Nikam, PA of the CM Eknath Shinde, called the dean and askedHospital about the hospital's initiative of providing free medicines to patients. He then proceeded to rudely ask the dean to shut all the six canteens on the campus, said a hospital official.
A hospital official said that the rude tone of the caller revealed that the call was not real. The call has come days after one of the six canteens of the college was shut due to students' complaints regarding food quality, reports the Indian Express.
The CM's office informed that they have no employee with the name Aniket Nikam.
Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that with an aim to extend affordable healthcare to cancer patients in the city, a PET-CT scan facility had been introduced by the BJ Medical College and Sassoon General Hospital. This facility is considered to be the first in the state to be established at a government hospital. PET-CT scan is a procedure that combines the pictures from a positron emission tomography (PET) scan and a computed tomography (CT) scan. The PET and CT scans are done at the same time with the same machine. The combined scans give more detailed pictures of areas inside the body than either scan gives by itself.
