Sassoon Hospital to get dedicated cancer hospital: Minister Hasan Mushrif
Mumbai: A new government cancer hospital will soon be established at Sassoon Hospital in Pune, Hasan Mushrif, the minister of Medical Education said on Thursday.
According to an UNI report, the clearance for the construction of the cancer hospital in the Sasoon Hospital premises is in the final stage, he said.
The minister was replying to a question raised by Bhimrao Tapkir about Sassoon Hospital.

Mushrif said doctors who perform bariatric surgery have been made available in Sassoon Hospital. The number of doctors is sufficient for the treatment of newborns and the number of beds in the intensive care unit will be increased.
An inspection tour of the hospital will be organised with a meeting of all the public representatives of Pune city regarding the facilities and current situation. The process of filling up the vacancies in medical colleges and hospitals is being done through MPSC, he said.
All the vacancies in Group ' C ' have been filled. District Collectors at the local level have been empowered to fill Group 'D' post vacancies on contractual basis.
The authority to purchase medicines in medical college hospitals has been given to the Principal. In terms of medical procurement, principals of medical colleges now have the authority to locally purchase medicines, ensuring prompt availability when urgently needed.
Strict action has been taken against the accused regarding the crimes committed in the past in Sassoon, added Mushrif, news agency UNI reported.
