SCB Medical College and Hospital plans to send blood reports to patients' mobile phones from August 15
Cuttack: With an aim to provide better healthcare services to the patients, SCB Medical College and Hospital set to send blood test reports to their patients' cellphone. From the comfort of their homes, patients will now have access to their test results with just one click.
The hospital authorities said that the system will start functioning from August 15 and patients will receive their test results at home. The test results will be directly sent to the patient's mobile phone after conducting the test which will save time for the patient and the hospital as well.
This move received huge praise from the patients as many find it a hassle to visit the hospital for the results and wait in a long queue. This will also help in reducing the increasing number of footfalls at the hospital.

Recently, the hospital was overcrowded with patients waiting for treatment and test results which affected the functioning of the hospital. Doctors would also be able to diagnose patients early once the reports will be sent to the patients directly.
SCB MCH administrative officer Abinash Rout told TNIE "We have decided to send blood samples test reports directly to patients' mobile phones from August 15. After getting the proposal approved by Health and Family Welfare department, we are now discussing with the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing(C-DAC) and Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC) for the development of necessary software and creation of required infrastructure."

The OPD ticket booking system at the hospital started on May 10 this year. Meanwhile, only three departments including Orthopedic, Obstetrics and Gynaecology have started collecting the blood samples. To reduce overcrowding at the hospital's diagnostic centres, the hospital authorities are planning to expand their facilities across all departments.
